We are saddened to announce the death of Professor André Allisy on February 22, 017.
Dr. Allisy worked at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) as Director of the Ionizing Radiation Section from 1961 to 1989. He created this Section and surrounded himself with talented collaborators to establish the international reputation of BIPM. His technical expertise and administrative skills were recognized and appreciated in France and throughout the world.
He was Executive Secretary of the Consultative Committee for Ionizing Radiation. As the third Chairman of ICRU he made many significant contributions to the fields of radiation quantities, units and measurements. Dr. Allisy continued to support ICRU in his role as Honorary Chairman.
