Abstract
ICRU Report 57 is the product of a long collaboration between the ICRU and the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP). The report was prepared by a Joint Task Group of the two Commissions, underwent separate review by each Commission and has been published in the series of each Commission.
The Report provides an extensive and authoritative set of data linking field quantities, operational quantities and protection quantities in a way that will be of help to those working in radiation protection. Conversion coefficients are provided for idealized irradiation geometries, monoenergetic radiaitons in various anthropomorphic models (mathematical models) and measurement phantoms. The major sections of the report are:
- Introduction
- Quantities Used in Radiological Protection for External Radiation
- Determination of Absorbed Dose Distributions in the Human Body and in Anthropomorphic and other Models
- Conversion Coefficients
- Relationships Between Quantities
